Q. What is the LOC?
A. The LOC is the Library of Congress. It has records on almost every book published in the United States. The LOC keeps the ISBN, call number, control number, and the MARC codes for every book it has on file. Each of these is a method for keeping information about a book. They are also used to track and organize books. Other libraries in the country base their book information on the LOC.Return to FAQs
